The Team: Scientific Rigor and Multidisciplinary Management
Specialists in transferring advanced science to the built environment.
PhotoKrete is a deep-tech company specializing in the transfer of photonics science to the built environment. It was founded with the goal of bringing laboratory breakthroughs to the construction industry, infrastructure, and the industrial, agri-food, and logistics sectors. Our multidisciplinary team combines scientific leadership, materials engineering, technical management, and industrial development to transform cutting-edge research into real-world solutions for urban heat, thermal efficiency, and climate change. The technological capabilities of our photonic mortar open the door to global solutions for climate change.
This innovative material transforms our cities and helps reduce CO₂ emissions from air conditioning, while also alleviating urban heat. Combined with other environmental measures, its use in the built environment represents a tangible step toward a more sustainable and resilient future in the face of global warming.
We support every project from the research and validation phase through to its application in buildings, infrastructure, and urban spaces, ensuring solutions that are technically validated, scalable, and aligned with the real needs of industry and public administration.
Founding Team
R&D and Innovation: Photokrete’s DNA
Our work focuses on designing disruptive solutions to reduce thermal load passively and autonomously.
SCIENTIFIC VALIDATION
We maintain an ongoing collaboration with leading institutions such as: the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC); the Public University of Navarra (UPNA); and the University of the Basque Country / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (EHU).
The origin: the European Miracle (DEEP TECH) project
Technical credibility backed by the European Union.
THE FOUNDATIONAL MILESTONE THAT BACKS OUR TECHNOLOGY.
PhotoKrete emerged from the success of the H2020 MIRACLE (Photonic Metamaterials in Realistic Environments) project, an initiative funded by the European Union with over 3 million euros. This project forms the scientific foundation of the company and, through rigorous field testing, validates the ability of our materials to mitigate heat gain in real-world construction environments.
